Forgiveness is the pathway to spiritual freedom. Forgiveness is not an option with God. His Son Jesus Christ, forgave His tormentors at the cross. God expects us to forgive each and every person that hurts us. That is God. That is how He moves. That is His way. God does not change His mind concerning forgiveness. You must forgive.
Sometimes, forgiveness seems impossible because of deep hurts within us. The first step is a willingness to forgive on an intellectual level. The Holy Spirit will guide you though the emotional aspect of forgiveness. Forgiveness is an important beginning part of the inner healing deliverance process.
Read the Prayer of Forgiveness with your heart. Ask the Holy Spirit to bring to mind any person you need to forgive. You will begin to remember people by thinking of their names and picturing their faces. This is the Holy Spirit prompting you to forgive certain people. Learn the movement and ways of the Holy Spirit. You will begin to sense the presence of God surrounding you. Why?–because you are being obedient to God.
Prayer of Forgiveness
Dear Father God,
In the name of Jesus Christ, my Lord and Savior, I bring to You the gift of my pain and I lay it before Your throne. I confess that my feeling and attitudes toward those who hurt me have been sinful, but I have not known what to do about them.
In the name of Jesus, and as an act of my free will, I purpose and choose to forgive (Person’s Name) from my heart for (what they did).
In the name of Jesus, I break and cancel Satan’s power over me in this memory, and the resulting pain. I hate the devil and I renounce all of his evil works in my life.
In the name of Jesus, I command all the tormentors that have been assigned to me because of my unforgiveness to leave me now.
Holy Spirit, I invite You to come into my heart and heal me of this pain and this deep hurt. Holy Spirit, please reveal Your truth to me in this situation. (Pause quietly and allow the Holy Spirt to speak to your heart. Listen carefully to what He has to say.
Thank you, Father God, that because of the work that my Lord Jesus did on the cross my forgiveness, healing and freedom from the past hurts are possible.
In Jesus Name,
Record of Wrongs: Make a list of all those you need to forgive. Write down each person’s name and detail everything you think they did to you. This is the “Record of Wrongs” you have been holding against them. Deal with each person one at a time. Pray the Prayer of Forgiveness over each one until you are finished.

Sign and Date
Forgive Yourself: Make a list of everything for which you need to forgive yourself. Take this list to the Lord in prayer, using the same Prayer of Forgiveness. Put your name in the space of the person’s name and state what you are forgiving yourself for.

Ask the Holy Spirit to speak His truth to you in each situation. God will speak in your heart. His word is the final word on the subject and He promise forgiveness. (1John 1:9)
God is faithful to do His part and forgive, if we do our part. The Holy Spirit will complete the work of forgiveness in your heart. The sin of unforgiveness will no longer stand between you and God, or between you and others. God will declare you righteous and shameless. You will regain your “right standing” as an heir of God with all the blessings it carries. The peace that passes all understanding will fill you. (John 14:27)
Satan and his tormentors have no legal right to you when you confess your sins and forgive others and yourself. (Eph 4:27) You are free! John 8:36 says, “If the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed.”
Additional self deliverance work might be required
In addition, there might be some additional deliverance work that needs to be done. For example, inner healing of wounded parts, possible self deliverance if demons are attached, breaking curses, and learning to walk in forgiveness every day.
Permit the Holy Spirit lead you on what you need to do every day to keep your freedom. When the Holy Spirit leads there is no pressure-only peace. Let His peace lead you.
Finally, know that the Holy Spirt will lead you in the relationship (If you still have one) with the person you forgive. Forgiveness does not mean that you must be their fiend or have coffee with them every day. Again let the Holy Spirit lead you. Guard your heart and be free.
